iClicker allows instructors some choices in how they run polls, and whether and how to score student responses. Click settings to see the areas that can be customized.
Deciding How To Score Responses
If you want to give students credit for their responses, click the Scoring tab to tell iClicker how to allocate points.
Responses can be scored in two broad categories depending upon the goal of the instructor:
- Participation points: The students will receive points for answering a predetermined number of questions in the session. The correctness of the answer is not taken into consideration. This can be used for assigning participation points or taking attendance.
- Performance Points: The students will receive points for correctly answering questions. The correct answer can be selected when an instructor is displaying responses in the classroom, or can be marked at the end of a session through the iClicker gradebook.
